To support the stock assessment process for Atlantic bluefin tuna (Thunnus thynnus), Blue Matter is developing a multi-stock assessment model that fits to the various fishery, genetic, and tagging data. There is significant mixing between the Eastern and Western stocks across the Atlantic Ocean. Thus, a joint assessment model is needed to avoid mutually exclusive outcomes, as well as account for seasonal availability and movement.

Funding is provided by the Bluefin Tuna Reasearch Program, in collaboration with the Ocean Foundation.
