Retrospective Patterns

Got a retrospective pattern in a stock assessment but not sure of the cause? Closed-loop simulation can allow us to determine whether management procedures can sufficiently help reach conservation and fishery objectives in spite of such behavior in an assessment, and identify which of the possible causes actually impact management performance.

The approach was applied to two New England stocks (Atlantic cod and pollock) and published in the ICES Journal of Marine Science. This work was supported by the Natural Resources Defense Council.
